We train politically self-motivated individuals who aim to set up and maintain digital infrastructure for themselves and their communities. We stand for direct action and mutual-aid, to end our dependence on technology monopolies. We work in the here and now towards a grassroots alternative for digital technology and society.

We start by seeing what information we can find online, try some google-search techniques, see what we can dig up and go from there.

We want Varia to be used by people who live in the neighbourhood. Is it already happening but we've never met you all together, we'd love to have a moment to formalise how this can work for everyone. With conversation and food we want to set up ways to organise and coordinate the access for Varia. How can we help each other across our extended solidarity networks? What are our responsibilities to one another and how can we communicate clearly? This is a gathering to share our expectations and needs for this space that we (can) all use.

These projects are happening in collaboration with ruangrupa, the artist collective from Jakarta Indonesia who are running the artistic direction of documenta this year. As documenta 15 approaches, we'd like to have a moment to eat together, share what we're up to and discuss over some drinks. It can also be a moment to focus on our local ekosistem.

Juan Pablo will share his research on the Atlantis-2 submarine cable and its landing site in Conil, a small coastal town in the south of Spain filled with ruins of colonial and information infrastructures. Dachen Bao will share his research conducted as part of the self-organised collective 'Chongqing Work Institute'(重庆工作研究所). The second half of the gathering will open a space to collectively reflect on infrastructures as contentious production and mediation of reality, proposing a collective mode of research on media technologies that operates from a relational and networked proximity.
