Join us for a workshop on writing in the margins using Marginalia an open-source and free, collaborative article annotation and publishing platform. This platform foregrounds non-linear, messy, entangled knowledge creation using annotations, hyperlinks, scribbles, and more. It is for those seeking online space for communal learning, wild experiments in reading and writing, and intervening into the text to make room for themselves in it. The workshop will be led by Arran Lyon, a creative technologist/coder, computer scientist, hacker and Senka Milutinović, a designer, researcher, writer. Both are a part of the ARK collective and have an interest in storytelling and knowledge creation with technology.

Join us for a relaxed evening where musicians and writers create side by side. The idea is simple: some of us will write, some of us will make sounds. Writers can work on something old, start something new, or even write to the music. Musicians are free to jam together or experiment with sounds.

On the 8th of March, Varia will open its doors for the 8M Counter Cloud Gathering as part of the Transnational, Anti-Colonial, Trans*Feminist Counter Cloud Action Day.

During the event, participants will share modest proposals for moving networks and political engagement away from toxic cloud environments. From Counter Cloud Action to Digital Discomfort and trans*feminist servers, the techno-disobedient practices they share will unsettle computationally mediated depletion, activating paths towards anti-colonial tech.

HTML Zine Club is a workshop making a personal-scope of web publication. Webzines, like print zines, are personal, story-based publications, but can also be made interactive and nonlinear through code, using basic programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript (if you like!). In this workshop, an artist Nami Kim will lead participants who have little to no coding experience on how to craft their own webzines, centred around programming with care.

We invite you to "Gardening as Electricity Making," a workshop that celebrates the interplay of soil, electricity, life, and the internet.

This event launch will start with a performative reading and activation of the online platform 'Performing Patents Otherwise'. It will follow with a series of conversations on its making process, from the data collection and curation to how the interface facilitates access to these datasets while encouraging critical interpretation and discussions. We will also showcase the short video documentation of "I, Martha Gowans," a performance for two sewing machines, a voice and a computer based on a clothing patent filed by Martha Gowans in Dundee in 1903.

On March 8th join us in dreaming and dancing in the ruins of Big Tech! On this day, we will be having conversations on how to minimize our use of cloud-based applications, discussions on the implications of the cloud regime, reading, streaming, broadcasting, sharing food, and dreaming up alternative methods of otherwise exuberant joyful survival, while connecting to other transnational striking networks.
